Increased COVID Support funding will assist thousands of Tasmanian Businesses
‘The announcement today of a significant increase of funding by both the state and federal governments to support Tasmanian businesses supplying the Tasmanian Tourist sector will provide a much needed lifeline leading into the coming summer months,’ said Robert Mallett CEO of the Tasmanian Small Business Council.
‘The $50,000,000 increase of joint funding will go a long way to assist the cohort of businesses in making the decision to hang in there in anticipation of a healthy summer.
‘Made up of not only direct grants but also the waiving of a number of compulsory fees incurred by tourism operators, the breadth of scope for eligible businesses is refreshing. The eligibility includes businesses which provide goods or services to the sector and who have been affected.
‘The TSBC understands that the application process has been designed to be simple and not time consuming; often a barrier to small business people bothering to engage in the process.
‘It is pleasing to see that the increased funding is supported jointly by both the state and federal governments and that they both recognise the vitally important part the tourism businesses and their supply chain play in the lives of all Tasmanians.’
